The B. Sc. (Hons.) degree is a four-year or three-year degree program that offers students a solid scientific foundation to prepare them for careers in various chemical industries and related technological sectors.
This article will help all Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) aspirants know their O’Level and UTME subjects to study Industrial Chemistry. And it will also enable them to gain admission into the school without difficulty.
Chemistry and Physics are required throughout, and the fifth O’level credit can be Biology, Agricultural Science or Technical Drawing. That last option is unusual on a chemistry entry list and worth noting.
Direct entry is wide here too, taking in A level passes, an upper credit ND in Science Laboratory Technology with the Chemistry option, IJMB and JUPEB.
To avoid mistakes, all aspirants should carefully read the subject combination for both O’Level and UTME.
Entry Requirements
The entry requirements shall be at least credit level passes in five subjects at ‘O’ level in one sitting or six credits at not more than two sittings.
The credits must include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and any of the following subjects: Biology, Agricultural Science, or Technical Drawing.
Four subjects are named and the fifth comes from those three options. Candidates from technical colleges should note that Technical Drawing counts here on equal terms with Biology.
In addition, an acceptable pass in the UTME into the 100 level is required. UTME subjects are English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology,/Agricultural Science. The expected duration for UTME candidates shall be 4 years.
That line lists more subjects than the four papers a UTME candidate sits, and the department does not say which are optional. Confirm the exact combination with the current JAMB brochure before registering.
For Direct entry, candidates must have two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Physics, Biology, and Mathematics or their equivalents.
ND with upper credit in SLT (Chemistry option), IJMB, and JUPEB in addition to the requirements in (1) above. The expected duration for Direct Entry candidates is 3 years.
Note that the diploma route specifies the Chemistry option within Science Laboratory Technology. An upper credit in another option may not be treated the same way, so check before applying.
