For UTME candidates, the B. Sc. (Hons) degree in Geology is a four-year program; for direct-entry candidates, it is a three-year program.

The O’level condition here allows Geography in place of Biology, which is worth knowing. Candidates whose science results stop short of Biology may still qualify on a Geography credit.
The UTME combination is tighter, naming four subjects with no alternatives. Neither Biology nor Geography appears there, so the two lists have to be read separately.

Entry Requirements
Students who want to major in geology must meet the university’s entry standards and the natural sciences faculty.
Such students must have had a minimum of five credits at the ordinary level or equivalent, with the qualifying subjects including credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or Geography in one sitting or six credits at not more than two sittings.
Read that as English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics with either Biology or Geography completing the five. The sitting rule then adds a sixth credit for results spread across two examinations.

All four are compulsory. A candidate who registers Geography or Biology in place of Chemistry or Physics will not have met the requirement, whatever the overall score.
