The B.Sc. (Hons) degree program in mass communication is a four-year program for UTME applicants and a three-year program for Direct Entry (DE) candidates.

Requirements for entry
Students who wish to major in mass communication must fulfill all requirements set forth by the university and the faculty of social and management sciences.
Students must have completed at least five credits at the ordinary level of the General Certificate of Education, including English Language, Literature in English, and any two Arts/Social Science subjects, as well as a pass in Mathematics in one sitting or six credits in a maximum of two sittings.
For Direct Entry, the student must have an “A” level in English literature or its equivalent and one additional subject from the arts or social sciences.
To prepare the graduate for a successful career in various occupations, the curriculum gives the graduate a wide communication/media background. Additionally, it offers a strong academic foundation for those pursuing advanced degrees (MA, Ph.D.).
The department highly values practical work in the studios, newsroom, press, and on the field. For 300-level undergraduate students, mandatory industrial attachments are set up.
