The 2026/2027 cut-off mark picture for Federal College of Education Potiskum is now out. Candidates need this information before they can tell whether they are in contention for a place, and before any screening exercise starts.
NCE Applicants Are Now Exempted From UTME
Starting with the 2026/2027 admission cycle, applicants seeking NCE admission, including at FCET Potiskum, with a minimum of four credit passes at SSCE/O’Level no longer need to sit the UTME. JAMB confirmed this at its 2026 policy meeting in Abuja, and it’s been reported consistently by the Guardian, Vanguard, and Businessday, among others.
You’ll still need to register with JAMB. Eligible applicants go through an Institutional Professional Registration Centre (IPRC) based in a college of education, or any JAMB Professional Registration Centre (PRC), where credentials get screened, verified, and an admission letter issued through CAPS.
There’s no UTME score to beat here anymore, your O’Level credits and IPRC registration carry the weight a cut-off mark used to.
If you already sat UTME, that’s fine, it just isn’t the deciding factor for NCE admission the way it was before.
The Old UTME Benchmark (For Context)
Before this change, FCET Potiskum had set an internal UTME requirement of 120 across its departments, including Primary Education Studies, Early Childhood Care Education, the sciences (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), the technical trades (Automobile, Building, Electrical/Electronics, Metalworks, Woodworks Technology), and the education-support courses.
We’re leaving that figure here as background only, since it no longer governs NCE admission.
For the SSCE side, you’ll still need the relevant credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings, matching whatever course you’re applying for at FCET Potiskum.
Because this policy is brand new for 2026/2027, confirm directly with FCET Potiskum’s admissions office or your nearest IPRC before you finalize anything.
