Economics and Development Studies is taught under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences at The Federal University, Kashere. Economics and Mathematics are named together on every route into the programme.
The supporting subject is left open at both the O’Level and UTME stages, described only as a social science or arts paper. Direct Entry replaces that openness with a named list of ten subjects.
Confirm that Economics and Development Studies appears on the current FUKASHERE course list and that your JAMB registration records it correctly before you sit the examination.

Economics and Mathematics Anchor the FUKASHERE Development Studies Route
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Economics and any other social science or arts subject. Three papers are named and the balance is left to the candidate.
The UTME combination mirrors that exactly. English Language is compulsory, Economics and Mathematics are fixed, and the third subject may be any social science or arts paper.
Direct Entry is where the page becomes specific. Two ‘A’ level passes are required, one in Economics and the second from Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government.
That list admits science subjects, which neither of the other two routes does. A candidate with a science background has a clearer path through Direct Entry than through UTME.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at FUKASHERE, and it applies before any of the subject conditions are examined.
