This article is designed to help students who wish to study Mathematics under the Faculty of Sciences at the Federal University, Otuoke.
Confirm the course is offered at FUOTUOKE before registering for JAMB. Mathematics is compulsory at every stage here, so the real decision is how many science subjects you need to put beside it, and that number changes from section to section.

About Federal University, Otuoke
The Federal University, Otuoke, is a federal government-owned University located in Otuoke, a town in Ogbia’s local government area of Bayelsa State, Southern Nigeria. The University was established in 2011 and started with 282 pioneer students.
It offers degree courses at undergraduate levels. The University offers undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Science, Management Science, Social Science, Humanities, Education, Engineering, and Technology.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Mathematics are as follows.
You require five (5) SSC credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, and Physics or Chemistry.
Only three credits are pinned down, and the third is a single choice between Physics and Chemistry. The last two places are open to any other subject passed at credit level.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Mathematics under the Faculty of Sciences at FUOTUOKE include;
Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, and Economics or Geography.
The UTME form asks for more. Mathematics joins the compulsory English Language and two further papers are needed, drawn from a list that includes Economics and Geography as well as the two sciences named above.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Mathematics if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any other science subject.
- NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) in Physics, Chemistry, or Economics.
The two Direct Entry routes do not ask the same thing. The A Level route requires a second science subject, while the NCE route names Physics, Chemistry or Economics, so Economics is acceptable on one and not the other.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUOTUOKE for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
One Science at O Level, Two on the JAMB Form
Mathematics is the constant, required among the O Level credits, on the JAMB form and on both Direct Entry routes. What shifts is how much science has to accompany it.
At O Level a single credit in Physics or Chemistry is enough. The UTME combination needs two further subjects, though Economics and Geography count there. Plan for at least two sciences if you want every route open, and score a minimum of 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
