Admission Requirements for Civil Engineering
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Civil Engineering is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, and any other Science subject.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Civil Engineering at FUTA include Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Civil Engineering if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in any 200 or 300-level course at the NCE/HND/OND program.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
One Science Subject Apart at FUTA Civil Engineering
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are required together at O’level and at UTME, where they form the three papers beside the compulsory English Language.
Direct Entry words it differently, naming Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry, so the three are offered as alternatives rather than demanded as a set.
A second Direct Entry branch accepts two A’level or NCE passes at 200 or 300 level through an NCE, HND or OND programme, which suits diploma holders.
The fifth O’level credit is the only open place on the school certificate side, and it must be another science subject.
The university has a competitive admissions process and does not consider a student’s age, cultural background or religion when deciding whether to admit them. A minimum of 180 and above in JAMB applies for the 2026/2027 session.
