Admission Requirements for Urban and Regional Planning
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Urban and Regional Planning is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Geography, and any of these subjects; chemistry, physics, Economics, Government, Biology, Art, History, IRK/CRK, Social Studies, and Tech Drawing.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Urban and Regional Planning under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology at FUTA include;
Geography, Mathematics, and one other subject chosen from Physics, Economics, and Chemistry.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Urban and Regional Planning if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Mathematics and Geography.

Geography Runs Through FUTA Urban and Regional Planning
Geography is named on all three routes into this department. It joins Mathematics and English Language among the five O’level credits, it is fixed at UTME, and it is one of the two A’level or NCE passes accepted at Direct Entry.
Mathematics sits beside it every time, which makes those two subjects the real entry test for the course.
The remaining O’level credits are drawn from a notably mixed group, covering Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Government, Biology, Art, History, religious studies, Social Studies and Technical Drawing.
At UTME that choice narrows to Physics, Economics or Chemistry for the fourth paper. Candidates need a minimum of 180 and above in their JAMB result for the 2026/2027 session.
