Admission Requirements for Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology is Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agric Science, Mathematics, and Physics/Geography/Economics.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology at FUTA include Chemistry, Biology/Agric, and Mathematics/ Physics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require; Chemistry, Biology/Botany/Agric Science/Zoology/Physics.
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in any 200 or 300-level course at the NCE/HND/OND program.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Economics and Geography in the FUTA Fisheries Credit List
The fifth O’level credit for this course can be Physics, Geography or Economics, which is wider than most agricultural programmes allow and brings social science candidates into range.
The other four credits are fixed, covering English Language, Chemistry, Biology or Agric Science, and Mathematics.
At UTME, neither Geography nor Economics counts. The three papers beside English Language are Chemistry, Biology or Agric, and Mathematics or Physics.
Direct Entry widens things again, accepting Botany and Zoology alongside Biology, Agric Science and Physics behind the compulsory Chemistry, or two A’level or NCE passes at 200 or 300 level through an NCE, HND or OND programme.
The university has a competitive admissions process and does not consider a student’s age, cultural background or religion when deciding whether to admit them. A minimum of 180 and above in JAMB applies for the 2026/2027 session.
