The requirements below cover the WAEC or NECO subject combination for Meteorology, the four JAMB UTME papers, and the Direct Entry route, followed by the minimum JAMB score the university requires.

Admission Requirements for Meteorology
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Meteorology is Five (5) SSCE credits in Physics, Mathematics, and English Language and either Chemistry or Geography.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Meteorology at FUTA include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Geography.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Meteorology if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Meteorology, Weather Forecasting (WMO Class II Certificate), Mathematics, and Physics.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
A Weather Forecasting Certificate Counts at FUTA Meteorology
The Direct Entry list is the most distinctive part of this page. Alongside Mathematics and Physics it names Meteorology itself and a WMO Class II certificate in Weather Forecasting.
That recognition of a professional forecasting qualification is unusual, and it gives working candidates a route in that UTME applicants do not have.
For UTME, the papers are Mathematics, Physics and either Chemistry or Geography beside the compulsory English Language. The same Chemistry or Geography choice applies at O’level.
Physics and Mathematics are required on every route with no alternative offered. Candidates need a minimum of 180 and above in their JAMB result for the 2026/2027 session.
