Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) runs on the standard engineering core of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, with English Language and one further Science subject completing the five O’Level credits.

The UTME combination repeats that core exactly, so there is nothing to decide at registration. The only open slot anywhere in the UTME route is the fifth O’Level credit, which may be any Science subject.
Direct Entry works to a shorter list and accepts diploma holders as well. Both routes are set out below, along with the JAMB score FUTMINNA applies for the 2026/2027 session.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Civil Engineering include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- English Language and one Science subject
Four of the five are fixed. The last line pairs English Language with one Science subject of your choosing, so Biology, Agricultural Science, Geography or Further Mathematics would each serve.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
No choice is offered at this stage. The four JAMB papers match the four compulsory O’Level credits, so the Science subject used for the fifth credit plays no part in the examination.

Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Civil Engineering if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics.
- ND/HND (Upper credit) at appropriate levels.
These are two alternatives rather than two conditions. Note also that the A’Level line names only Physics and Mathematics, so Chemistry is not asked for on this route even though it is compulsory for UTME candidates.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTMINNA for the 2026/2027 session should know that you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result to be eligible for the screening.
That figure settles eligibility for the screening and nothing more. Admission is decided afterwards from the screening exercise itself.

Direct Entry Leaves Chemistry Out at FUTMINNA Civil Engineering
The two routes into this department do not ask for the same subjects. Chemistry is compulsory for UTME candidates at O’Level and in JAMB, yet the Direct Entry line names only Physics and Mathematics at A’Level.
Candidates coming through the UTME have the simpler checklist. Five credits led by Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, the same core repeated as four JAMB papers, and 180 in the UTME to reach the FUTMINNA screening for Civil Engineering.
