The Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) has published the entry requirements for its Department of Telecommunication Engineering, covering the O’Level credits, two waiver remarks, the JAMB UTME combination and Direct Entry.

Read the waiver remarks on this page before anything else. The two general lists name Economics and commercial subjects, while both FUTMINNA waivers set out a science combination built on Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
English Language and Mathematics are the only subjects every version agrees on. Beyond those two, the waivers are the FUTMINNA-specific instructions for this programme and they are what you should plan around.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Telecommunication Engineering include the following:
- Five (5) SSCE credit passes, including English Language, Economics, and Mathematics
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
FUTMINNA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other Science subject.
This waiver and the general O’Level line above do not match. The general line names Economics as a credit, while the waiver names Physics, Chemistry and a further science in its place.
Both statements are reproduced exactly as the department published them. The waiver is the FUTMINNA-specific remark for this programme, so it is the one that governs your O’Level credits where the two differ.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Economics and any one of Account, Commerce, and Government.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
FUTMINNA requires:
- For Telecommunication Engineering: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
- For Information and Media Technology: Mathematics, Physics, and any one Science subject.
The first bullet is the one that applies to this department. Taken with the compulsory English Language named in the list above, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry make up the four UTME subjects.
The second bullet covers Information and Media Technology, a separate programme, and is printed here for comparison. Telecommunication Engineering candidates should follow the first bullet rather than the commercial subjects listed in the general UTME combination.

The Waivers, Not the Commerce Subjects, Define FUTMINNA Telecommunication Engineering
A candidate who followed only the general lists on this page would arrive with Economics, Accounts or Commerce and no Physics. Both FUTMINNA waivers point the other way, towards Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Direct Entry admits A Level, ND and HND holders in relevant subjects at 200 and 300 level respectively. Whichever route applies, a JAMB score of 180 or above is required before you can be screened.
