The National Examinations Council (NECO) conducts the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for pupils in their final year of primary school seeking admission into JSS 1 of the Federal Unity Colleges. Here’s how to check your result once NECO releases it for the 2026 exam.
Parents and guardians can check results at the state ministries of education or directly on NECO’s result portal.
How to Check NCEE Result Online
- Go to the official NECO results portal at results.neco.gov.ng. Note the “results” with an “s”; the older result.neco.gov.ng address is no longer the correct one.
- Select the exam year (the current NCEE year).
- Select the exam type: National Common Entrance Examination.
- Enter your registration number in the required field. NCEE checks typically don’t require a separate token; if the portal asks for one and you don’t have it, use the Purchase Token option shown on the page.
- Click Check Result to view the result.
Alternatively:
- Go to the NCEE registration portal.
- Log in with your email/phone number and password.
- Click Registered Candidates, select Completed, then click on your registered candidate record to view the result.
How Unity School Admissions Work
The Federal Ministry of Education typically admits candidates into JSS 1 of the 104 Federal Unity Colleges using a mix of merit, equality of states, and exigency (catchment-area) criteria, historically weighted around 60% merit, 30% equality of states, and 10% exigency, though you should confirm the exact weighting for the current admission cycle with the Ministry.
Visit the NECO website or the Federal Ministry of Education’s channels for the official admission list and placement details once results are out.
In Summary
Keep your registration number handy, use the correct results.neco.gov.ng portal, and check with your state ministry of education if the online portal is slow around release time, since traffic spikes heavily right after results drop.
