The Polytechnic Ibadan has published the admission requirements for its Department of Music Technology. An application is judged on three things, namely the O’level subject combination, the four papers written at JAMB UTME, and the cut-off marks that apply at institution and department level.
The O’level list is one of the broadest at the polytechnic. English Language is the only fixed subject, and four more come from a group covering History, Government, the sciences, Literature in English, Mathematics, Clothing and Textiles, Home Economics and any Nigerian Language.
The UTME combination is the opposite. All four papers are named, and three of them are science subjects, which is an unusual shape for a course that accepts almost anything at O’level.
This is to inform the general public that the admission requirements for the Department of Music Technology at the Ibadan Polytechnic (IBADAN POLY) have been published.
The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Music Technology;
- English Language, and any four of the following:
- History
- Government
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Biology
- Agricultural Science
- Literature in English
- Mathematics
- Clothing and Textiles
- Religious Knowledge
- Economics
- Commerce Geography
- Home Economics and any Nigerian Language.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Physics/Technical Drawing

The Science Papers Behind IBADANPOLY Music Technology
The technology half of this course title shows up at JAMB rather than at O’level. The four UTME papers are English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics and either Physics or Technical Drawing, with no music or arts subject among them.
That makes the UTME registration the step to get right. A candidate who met the generous O’level list through Home Economics and a Nigerian Language would still need Chemistry and Mathematics at JAMB.
The only choice on that list is the fourth paper, where Technical Drawing is accepted in place of Physics. Everything else is fixed.
