Admission Requirements for Biochemistry
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Biochemistry is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Biochemistry under the Faculty of Sciences at MAUTECH include;
Chemistry, Biology, and one other subject chosen from Mathematics or Physics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Biochemistry if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and Physics.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
The Same Five Sciences at MAUTECH Biochemistry
The O’level requirement names all five credits, namely Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, so nothing on the result sheet is optional.
At UTME, Chemistry and Biology are fixed and the third paper is a choice between Mathematics and Physics.
Because both of those are already required as credits, that choice changes your JAMB registration rather than what your certificate must show.
Direct Entry draws its two A’level or NCE passes from Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Physics, the same group again.
Candidates entering through UTME need a minimum of 180 and above in their JAMB result for the 2026/2027 session.
