Admission Requirements for Applied Geology
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Applied Geology is Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and any other subject.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Applied Geology at FUTA include any three of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Geography.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Applied Geology if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require Geology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Geography.
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in any 200 or 300-level course at the NCE/HND/OND program.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
A Free Fifth Credit at FUTA Applied Geology
The O’level line is more generous than most science departments allow. English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics are named, and the fifth credit can be any other subject at all.
Physics and Geography appear only later, in the UTME pool of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Geography, from which any three are taken.
Direct Entry adds Geology itself to that same group, which is the only place the subject is named on this page.
A second Direct Entry branch accepts two A’level or NCE passes at 200 or 300 level through an NCE, HND or OND programme.
The university has a competitive admissions process and does not consider a student’s age, cultural background or religion when deciding whether to admit them. A minimum of 180 and above in JAMB applies for the 2026/2027 session.
