This is to notify the general public and all aspiring students of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola, that the Department of Construction Technology Education admission requirements have been published.
Construction Technology Education trains teachers of building and construction trades, and the MAUTECH waiver reflects that directly. Craft certificates in plumbing, welding, bricklaying and joinery all count towards the five O Level credits.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Construction Technology Education include the following:
Five SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, and any other Science subject.
That general line names four subjects and restricts the fifth to the sciences. The MAUTECH waiver below takes a different and considerably broader approach, so read the two together before judging your result.
Special Requirement (Waiver) Remarks
MAUTECH accepts five (5) O’Level credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics, and any two of the following:
- Technical Drawing
- Chemistry
- Biology/Geography
- General Metal Works
- Computer Studies/IT
- Appliance Maintenance Repair Practice
- Further Mathematics
- Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
- Plumbing and Pipe Fitting
- Welding and Fabrication Engineering Craft Practice
- Block laying
- Bricking laying and Concrete work
- Painting and Decoration
- Carpentry & Joinery
- Machine Woodwork
- Furniture Making Wood Work
Under the waiver only English Language, Mathematics and Physics are fixed. Two further credits come from the long list above, which runs from Technical Drawing and Computer Studies through to welding, plumbing and furniture making.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
The JAMB combination allows no choice at all. English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are the four subjects to register, whichever O Level route brought you here.

Craft Certificates Count Towards Your Five Credits
The MAUTECH waiver is what makes this course reachable for technical college candidates. English Language, Mathematics and Physics are fixed, and the two remaining credits may come from trades such as block laying, welding, plumbing or carpentry.
At UTME there is no such latitude. English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are the four subjects to register, and a JAMB score of at least 160 is needed to reach screening.
