Science at O’Level, Arts at UTME for MAUTECH Geography
The two subject lists pull in opposite directions. O’level asks for Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Geography and any science subject, which is a science leaning combination.
UTME then asks for Geography plus any two Arts or Social Science subjects beside the compulsory English Language.
A candidate registering arts papers at JAMB therefore still needs Physics and Mathematics credits on the school certificate, which is the part most likely to be missed.
Geography itself is required on all three routes, including Direct Entry, where two A’level passes are needed with Geography among them. The score to clear is a minimum of 180 and above in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
