Chemistry is required on every route and has no alternative anywhere on this page. It appears among the five O’level credits, at UTME, and as the first of the two A’level passes at Direct Entry.
Biology is almost as central, though Direct Entry allows Zoology or Botany in its place. Neither substitution is available to UTME candidates.
All five O’level credits are named, covering Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, so the UTME choice between Mathematics and Physics does not change what your result sheet must show.
Candidates entering through UTME need a minimum of 180 and above in their JAMB result for the 2026/2027 session.
