Admission Requirements for Physics
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Physics is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any science subject.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Physics under the Faculty of Sciences at MAUTECH include;
Physics, Mathematics, and one other subject chosen from Biology or Chemistry.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Physics if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Biology Allowed at UTME for MAUTECH Physics
The UTME combination gives candidates one substitution. Physics and Mathematics are fixed, and the third paper can be Biology or Chemistry, so a candidate stronger in Biology is not shut out at JAMB.
O’level is stricter, naming Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Chemistry, with any science subject as the fifth credit. The Chemistry credit is required whichever JAMB paper you choose.
Direct Entry removes the choice entirely, asking for A’level or NCE passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Physics and Mathematics appear on every route with no alternative. Candidates need a minimum of 180 and above in their JAMB result for the 2026/2027 session.
