The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
The Ordinary Level condition here names five subjects and then leaves the last place open to any other science subject. Mathematics is among the named five and cannot be substituted.

O’level Subject Combinations
Candidates who wish to study Mechanical Engineering at the University Of Ibadan (UI) must possess Five ‘O’ level Credits in one sitting or 6 ‘O’ level Credit passes at two sittings to include: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and any other Science subject.
The number of credits depends on sittings. Five are accepted from a single sitting, while six are required when results are drawn from two.
Only the final place is open, and it must still be filled by a science subject rather than by any subject at all.
