This is to inform the general public that the management of the University Of Ibadan (UI) has published the admission requirements for its Faculty Of Law For admission aspirants.
The admission requirements consist of O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
Law at Ibadan is open on subjects and strict on marks. English Language and Literature in English are the only named Ordinary Level credits, and the other places may come from Arts, Social Sciences or Science.
The screening mark is 270 against a general university JAMB figure of 200. That gap of seventy points is what makes the faculty difficult to enter rather than the subject list.
UI Faculty Of Law Admission Requirements
O’level Subject Combinations
Candidates who wish to study Law at the University Of Ibadan (UI) must possess Five ‘O’ level subjects at one sitting or 6 ‘O’ level subjects in 2 sittings, including English Language, Literature in English and any other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Science.
Literature in English is the subject that most often decides eligibility. A candidate without a credit in it does not meet the requirement, whatever the rest of the results look like.
Beyond those two, the remaining credits are unrestricted by discipline. Science candidates are not excluded from reading Law here.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
English Language and any three subjects from Arts, Social Science and/or Science.
Only English Language is fixed in JAMB. The other three papers may be drawn from any of the three subject groups, which is unusually flexible for a competitive course.

Everything therefore rests on the screening score. At 270 the faculty sets its mark seventy points above the general university figure of 200.
Candidates should confirm their Literature in English credit early and then plan their preparation around 270 rather than around the university requirement of 200.
