The University of Benin is a federal government-owned university funded and managed by the federal government of Nigeria. The university was founded in 1970. University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a research university located in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.
The university is one of the oldest in Nigeria and has a large student and staff population. Resulting in a student-staff ratio of about 10:1.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Business Education; You require;
Five (5) TC II merit, ‘O’ Level or NTC/NBC credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two (2) other subjects in the Social Sciences or Arts.
For NBC, the other subjects could be the following: Commerce, Office Practice, Principles of Accounts, Secretarial Duties, Typewriting, and Shorthand.
Jamb Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Business Education under the Faculty of Education at the University of Benin include;
Mathematics, Economics plus one (1) of Literature in English, History, Government, Geography, Chemistry, and Physics.
Direct Entry Requirement
You need to fulfill these conditions to gain Direct Entry admission to study Business Education if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or NCE merit in two (2) relevant subjects.
- NCE merit in Business Education Double Major.
Jamb Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2026/2027 session should know that you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result to be eligible for the screening.
Business College Certificates and UNIBEN Business Education
Four different O’level qualifications are accepted here, namely a TC II merit, an ordinary O’level, an NTC or an NBC. Whichever you hold, five passes are needed including English Language, Mathematics and Economics.
NBC candidates get their own named subject list for the two remaining papers, covering Commerce, Office Practice, Principles of Accounts, Secretarial Duties, Typewriting and Shorthand. Other candidates fill those two slots from the Social Sciences or Arts.
At UTME, Mathematics and Economics sit beside the compulsory English Language, and the fourth paper can come from Literature in English, History, Government, Geography, Chemistry or Physics. Chemistry and Physics in that list keep the door open to science candidates.
