The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has published the entry requirements for its Department of Computer Education, covering the O’Level credits, the JAMB UTME combination, two waiver remarks and three Direct Entry routes.

The O’Level requirement names all five subjects, and every one of them is a science or Mathematics. There is no optional credit, so English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology all have to be held.
The UTME section is where this page needs care. The general list points towards Economics or Commerce, while the UNIBEN waiver below it names Physics instead, and the waiver is the one written for this university.

The University has a diverse student population with students from different parts of the country and age brackets. The University of Benin courses cut across various levels in agriculture, science, etc.
University of Benin admission is extremely competitive as many candidates apply for admission into the university annually. University of Benin’s school fees are also very affordable, and it provides its students with facilities and infrastructure. They have good hostels, roads, electricity, etc.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited faculties and departments in the university.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Computer Education include the following:
- Five (5) SSCE credit passes, including Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
All five subjects are named, which makes this a full science requirement despite the education title of the programme.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Economics/ Commerce plus one (1) of Chemistry/Physics/Biology
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
UNIBEN requires Mathematics, Physics, and any other Science or Social Sciences subjects.
This remark and the UTME list above it do not agree. The list makes Economics or Commerce compulsory and treats Physics as one of three options, while the waiver makes Physics compulsory and leaves the third subject open.
Both are reproduced exactly as published. The waiver is the UNIBEN-specific remark for this programme, so it is the one that governs your UTME subjects, taken together with the compulsory Use of English.
Direct Entry Requirement
You must fulfil these conditions to gain Direct Entry admission to study Computer Education if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2)’A’ Level passes or its equivalents in Physics and Mathematics.
- ND in Computer Science
- NCE distinction credit or merit in Computer Education, Physics, or Mathematics
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
UNIBEN requires:
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes, including Mathematics and one (1)Science subject, plus three(3)’O’ Level credit passes, including English Language, at one sitting.
- Two (2) or three (3) NCE merit including Computer Science or Mathematics/Physics plus three (3) or two (2) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) sitting.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2026/2027 session should know that you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result to be eligible for the screening.
The UNIBEN Waiver Puts Physics Ahead of Commerce in Computer Education
A candidate who followed only the general UTME list would register Economics or Commerce and might leave Physics out altogether. The UNIBEN waiver reverses that, making Physics compulsory beside Mathematics.
Direct Entry offers three routes through A Level, ND or NCE results, with the second waiver explaining how they combine with O’Level credits at one sitting. A JAMB score of 200 or above remains the screening threshold.
