The University of Benin. offers Library and Information Science under its Faculty of Education, and this page sets out the O’Level credits, the JAMB UTME combination, two Direct Entry routes and the JAMB score required for screening.

This is among the most open requirements UNIBEN publishes. English Language and Mathematics are the only named subjects, and the UTME places no restriction at all on the three that accompany Use of English.
At O’Level the three remaining credits may come from the Arts, the Sciences or the Social Sciences, so candidates from any stream can meet the requirement without changing subjects.

O’Level Subject Combination

You require;
Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and three other relevant Arts/Science/Social Science subjects.
Only two subjects are fixed. The department accepts relevant subjects from all three streams for the other three credits, which is rare among the Faculty of Education programmes at UNIBEN.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Library and Information Science under the Faculty of Education at UNIBEN include;
Any three subjects.
No field is specified at all here. The sensible approach is to write the three subjects you already hold as O’Level credits, so that one body of preparation serves both requirements.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Library and Information Science if you don’t intend to use UTME.

Any Three Subjects Will Do in JAMB for UNIBEN Library and Information Science
Few departments leave the UTME this open. Apart from the compulsory English Language, the department names no subject at all, which makes the combination easy to assemble whatever your background.
The real work is at O’Level, where English Language and Mathematics must both be credits. The other three can come from the Arts, Sciences or Social Sciences.
Direct Entry takes two A Level passes in relevant subjects alongside the UTME requirements, or an NCE merit in relevant subjects. A JAMB score of 200 or above applies before screening.
