The University of Benin. offers Medical Biochemistry under its Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences, and this page sets out the O’Level credits, the JAMB UTME combination and the JAMB score required for screening.

All five O’Level subjects are named for this department, with no optional credit anywhere in the list. English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology must each be held at credit level.
The UTME narrows to three sciences beside the compulsory English Language. Mathematics drops out at that stage, which makes it the one credit you need but never write in JAMB.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Medical Biochemistry;
You require;
Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
Every subject is specified, so a strong grade elsewhere cannot cover a weak one here. This is the strictest form an O’Level requirement takes, with no flexible credit at all.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Medical Biochemistry under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences at UNIBEN include;
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
These three are fixed, with no alternatives offered. All three are already required O’Level credits, so the UTME asks nothing you have not already had to pass.
Direct Entry Requirements
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Medical Biochemistry;
You require;
Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
This section repeats the O’Level requirement word for word rather than setting out a Direct Entry condition. No A Level, ND, HND or NCE route is published for this department on this page.
Both passages are reproduced exactly as published. Direct Entry applicants should confirm the actual requirement with the department or against the current JAMB brochure before applying.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result.
Mathematics Is the One Credit You Never Write in JAMB for UNIBEN Medical Biochemistry
Physics, Chemistry and Biology appear in both lists, and English Language is compulsory throughout. Mathematics is the exception, required as an O’Level credit yet absent from the UTME combination.
That makes the O’Level stage the demanding one. All five subjects are named, none is optional, and a shortfall in any of them cannot be made up elsewhere.
A JAMB score of 200 or above is required before UNIBEN will screen you, which is above the threshold many other federal universities apply.
