This is to inform the general public and all aspiring students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) that the admission requirements for the Department of Religious Studies have been published.

The sections below cover the O’Level credit passes, a Benin waiver that sets them out in more detail, the four subjects sat in JAMB UTME, the A Level route into Direct Entry, and the JAMB score required.
Christian Religious Studies or Islamic Studies is the subject that carries this application. It is required at O’Level, named in the UTME combination and required again at A Level for Direct Entry.
The waiver remark adds conditions the plain O’Level line does not mention, including a limit on sittings and an alternative for TC II holders.

- UNIBEN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or five (5) Merit level passes in TC II at not more than two (2) sittings. Subjects should include English Language, Religious Studies, and two (2) other Arts or Social Science subjects.
This waiver is the fuller version and the one Benin applies. It accepts TC II merit passes in place of O’Level credits, limits candidates to two sittings, and names two arts or social science subjects alongside English Language and Religious Studies.

The subject requirement itself is light. English Language and Religious Studies are fixed, with two more from the arts or the social sciences, and the UTME combination simply adds any two other subjects.
Direct Entry needs two A Level subjects including Religious Studies, in either its Christian or Islamic form. UTME candidates face the Benin screening threshold of 200 in JAMB.
