English Language and Literature Are Two Separate Credits at UNICAL
The O’Level requirement is five credit passes including English Language and Literature in English, with three other Arts or Social Science subjects.
The JAMB combination repeats the pairing, naming English Language and Literature in English with one Arts subject and any other subject.
Direct Entry offers two routes. Two A level passes in relevant teaching subjects including Literature in English, or an NCE at credit or merit in two relevant subjects.
Note that the NCE route does not name Literature in English, which makes it the one way into this department for a candidate without it.
The UNICAL JAMB threshold is 150 and above for any department.
