Two separate O’Level routes are set out here, one built on SSC credits and one on TC II merit passes, which is rare and useful for teacher training candidates.

About the University of Calabar
The University of Calabar is a federal university in Cross River State, in the south south region of Nigeria. It was established in 1975.
The university has a very large student and staff population and a diverse student body. All applicants to the university are accepted, regardless of their cultural or religious background. Additionally, there is no restriction on applicants’ ages.
Two O Level Routes Into UNICAL Elementary Education
The first route is five SSC credit passes including English Language, with an O’Level pass in Mathematics.
The second accepts five TC II merit passes including English, again with an O’Level pass in Mathematics. That opens the department to candidates holding a teacher training certificate rather than SSCE credits.
Either way Mathematics is needed only at pass level, which is a lighter condition than most UNICAL departments impose.
The JAMB combination asks for English Language and any three subjects, with no restriction on the other papers.
Direct Entry takes A level passes in relevant subjects, or an NCE or ND at merit in two relevant teaching subjects. The UNICAL JAMB threshold is 150 and above.
