Admission requirements for the Department of Guidance and Counselling at the University of Calabar have been published, covering the O’Level credits, the JAMB UTME papers, the Direct Entry route and the JAMB score.

Three different certificates are accepted here in place of one another, which is the most useful thing on the page for candidates from technical or teacher training backgrounds.
Mathematics is also required only at pass level rather than as a credit, a lighter condition than most UNICAL departments set.

About the University of Calabar
The University of Calabar is a federal university in Cross River State, in the south south region of Nigeria. It was established in 1975.
The university has a very large student and staff population and a diverse student body. All applicants to the university are accepted, regardless of their cultural or religious background. Additionally, there is no restriction on applicants’ ages.
Three Certificates Accepted for UNICAL Guidance and Counselling
The O’Level requirement is five passes, and they may be O’Level credits, NTC or NBC credit passes, or a TC II at merit. English Language must be among them.
Mathematics is required separately as an O’Level pass rather than a credit, so a weaker Mathematics grade does not close this route.
The JAMB combination asks only for English Language and any three subjects, with no restriction on the other papers at all.
Direct Entry takes A level passes or an NCE in two subjects, but those come alongside the UTME requirements rather than instead of them.
The UNICAL JAMB threshold is 150 and above for any department, which is among the more accessible figures at federal level.
