Admission requirements for the Department of Political and Social Science at the University of Calabar have been published, covering the O’Level credits, the JAMB UTME papers, the Direct Entry route and the JAMB score.
Government or History is the subject that runs through every section of this page, while Mathematics is required only at pass level rather than as a credit.

The University of Calabar is a federal university in Cross River State, in the south south region of Nigeria. It was established in 1975.

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Political/Social Science include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Government/History
- English Language and three (3) other subjects
- A pass in Mathematics is required
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Government/History plus two (2) other Social Science/Arts subjects

Below is the Direct Entry Requirement for Political & Social Science :
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes, including Government or History.
JAMB Score
For any candidate to be admitted to any Department in the University of Calabar, the Candidate must score 150 and above in JAMB.
Government or History Is the Thread Through UNICAL Political and Social Science
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credit passes including Government or History, English Language and three other subjects, with a pass in Mathematics required separately.
Those three other subjects are not specified at all, so your existing credits can simply be carried across.
The JAMB combination names English Language and Government or History, with two other Social Science or Arts subjects completing the four papers.
Direct Entry is the shortest section, asking for two A level passes with Government or History among them and no second subject named.
The UNICAL JAMB threshold is 150 and above for any department. Confirm your Government or History credit and your Mathematics pass before registering.
