About The University of Calabar
The University of Calabar is a federal university in Cross River State, in the south south region of Nigeria. It was established in 1975.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Political/Social Science include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Government or History
- A pass in Mathematics
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language and Three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects
Direct Entry Requirement For Political Science & Public Administration
Below is the Direct Entry Requirement for Political Science and Public Administration:
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Government and one other Social Science subject.
JAMB Score
For any candidate to be admitted to any Department in the University of Calabar, the Candidate must score 150 and above in JAMB.
Ten Courses Share the UNICAL Political Science and Public Administration Rules
Political and Administrative Studies, Political Science and International Relations, Political Science and International Studies, Political Science and Conflict Resolution, and Political Science and Defence Studies all use these requirements.
So do Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, Conflict and Peace Resolution, Peace and Conflict Studies, and Government and Public Administration.
The O’Level rule asks for five SSCE credit passes including English Language and Government or History, with a pass in Mathematics.
Mathematics at pass level rather than credit level is the detail worth noting, since it widens the entry for candidates whose results lean towards the arts.
The JAMB combination is English Language plus three Arts or Social Science subjects, and Direct Entry takes two A level passes in Government and one other Social Science subject.
The UNICAL JAMB threshold is 150 and above for any department.
