This is to inform the general public and all University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) aspirants that the admission requirements for the Department of Accounting have been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers, the Direct Entry conditions and the minimum UTME score. Economics is the one subject that appears on all three lists.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Accounting include the following:
- Five (5) SSCE credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two (2) other relevant subjects.
Three credits are named and the final two are described only as relevant subjects. For an accounting programme that points at Commerce, Principles of Accounts, Government and similar papers.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Economics and any other Social Science subject.
The JAMB combination keeps the same core and restricts the fourth paper to the Social Sciences. English Language, Mathematics and Economics occupy the other three places.
A candidate who registers an Arts subject as the fourth paper will have an invalid combination even with the right credits.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Accounting if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes, including Economics
Direct Entry names only Economics. The second A Level pass carries no stated restriction, which makes this the most open of the three routes into the department.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNICROSS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 140 or above in your JAMB result.
Economics Runs Through Every UNICROSS Accounting Route
Economics is compulsory at O Level, in JAMB and at Direct Entry, so there is no version of this application that works without it. English Language and Mathematics join it at the first two stages.
Beyond that the department leaves room. Two credits are open within the relevant subjects, one JAMB paper is open within the Social Sciences, and the second A Level pass is unrestricted. Clear 140 for the 2026/2027 session.
