This is to inform the general public and all University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) aspirants that the Department of Civil Engineering admission requirements have been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers, two Direct Entry routes and the minimum UTME score. The subject list is almost identical at the first two stages and narrows at the third.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Civil Engineering include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- English Language and one Science subject
Four credits are named and the fifth must be a science subject. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language fill the first four places with no alternatives offered.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Mathematics
The JAMB papers repeat four of those credits exactly, so registration involves no choice. A candidate who sat Biology in place of Chemistry has no valid combination here.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Civil Engineering if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics.
- ND/HND (Upper credit) at appropriate levels.
Direct Entry drops Chemistry. The A Level route names Physics and Mathematics only, while the diploma route sets a grade condition, accepting an ND or HND at upper credit.
That makes Direct Entry the one stage where Chemistry is not required at all, despite being compulsory everywhere else.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNICROSS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 140 or above in your JAMB result.
Chemistry Everywhere Except Direct Entry at UNICROSS Civil Engineering
Physics and Mathematics appear at every stage of this application, from the O Level credits through the JAMB papers to the A Level passes accepted at Direct Entry.
Chemistry is required for the first two routes but not the third, and the diploma route replaces subjects with an upper credit grade bar. Decide which route fits and clear 140 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
