Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Guidance & Counseling include the following:
- Five (5) ‘O’ Level NTC/NBC credit passes or TC II merit including English Language with ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.
Three qualification types are accepted at this stage. Ordinary O Level credits, National Technical or Business Certificate credits, and a Teachers Grade II merit all satisfy the same requirement.
English Language is the only named credit. Mathematics is required at ordinary pass level, so it is checked separately rather than counting among the five.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Any three (3) subjects
The JAMB combination places no restriction at all beyond the compulsory English Language. Science, Arts and commercial papers are equally acceptable for the other three, which is rare.
That makes this course unusually accessible to candidates whose subject choices do not fit a conventional faculty grouping.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Guidance & Counseling if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- ‘A’ Level passes or NCE in two (2) subjects plus the UTME requirements
Direct Entry adds a condition rather than removing one. Two A Level passes or an NCE qualify, but the UTME requirements are attached, so the five credits and the Mathematics pass still apply.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNICROSS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 140 or above in your JAMB result.
Why UNICROSS Guidance and Counselling Names Only One Subject
English Language is the single subject this department insists on by name. Everything else is defined by level rather than by subject, from the five credits down to the three open JAMB papers.
Mathematics still has to appear on your result at pass level, and Direct Entry candidates meet the UTME requirements on top of their A Levels or NCE. Confirm your JAMB score reaches 140 for the 2026/2027 session.
