Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Marketing include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics and any three (3) relevant subjects
Only English Language and Mathematics are named at O Level. The other three credits are described as relevant subjects, which in a Marketing context points at commercial and social science papers.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Economics plus one (1) other relevant Subject
Economics becomes compulsory on the JAMB form even though it is not named among the O Level credits. English Language and Mathematics take two places and the fourth paper is left open.
A candidate who treats the O Level list as the whole picture can therefore register an invalid JAMB combination without realising it.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Marketing if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Accounting, Management, Government, and Geography.
The Direct Entry list drops Economics entirely. Any two of Accounting, Management, Government and Geography are accepted, so the subjects that matter at this stage differ from both earlier routes.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNICROSS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 140 or above in your JAMB result.
The Economics Gap Between UNICROSS Marketing Lists
English Language and Mathematics are the only subjects required at both O Level and UTME. Economics is added on the JAMB form alone, and disappears again from the Direct Entry list.
Work out which route you are using before choosing subjects, because each one names a different set. Secure your five credits, register Economics if you are going through UTME, and clear 140 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
