This is to inform the general public and all University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) aspirants that the admission requirements for the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management have been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers, two separate waivers and the Direct Entry conditions. The waivers matter more than usual here, because they change which subjects count towards the fifth credit.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Hospitality & Tourism Management include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Chemistry
- Biology/Agricultural Science
- Mathematics or Physics
- English Language and any one subject from below:
- Nutrition
- Fine Arts
- Textile
- Construction
- Technical Drawing
- Basic Electricity
- Basic Catering and Food Services
- Bakery and Confectioneries
- General Metal Work
- Men’s Garment Construction
- Finishing
- Spinning
- Weaving
- Surface Design and Printing
- Bleaching, Dyeing, and Finishing
- Ladies’ Garment Construction and Finishing
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
- CRUTECH accepts one (1) Social Science subject – Economics or Accounting/Commerce in place of Food and Nutrition/Home Economics.
CRUTECH is the former name of this same university, so the waiver applies to UNICROSS applicants. It permits Economics, Accounting or Commerce where the main list expects Food and Nutrition or Home Economics.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Chemistry
- Biology/Agriculture
- Mathematics/Physics or one Social Science subject
Chemistry is fixed on the JAMB form and Biology or Agriculture takes the third place. Only the fourth paper is open, between Mathematics, Physics and a social science subject.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
- CRUTECH accepts one of Economics, Accounting, or Commerce.
This second waiver names the social science options for that fourth JAMB paper. Economics, Accounting and Commerce are each acceptable, which is useful for candidates who did not sit Physics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Hospitality & Tourism Management if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two ‘A’ level passes or equivalents in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Agricultural Science/Economics/Physics/Mathematics/Geography/Accounting.
Chemistry stays compulsory at Direct Entry while the second pass is drawn from a long list that runs from Botany through to Accounting and Geography. Equivalent qualifications are accepted in place of A Levels.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNICROSS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 140 or above in your JAMB result.
How the CRUTECH Waivers Change UNICROSS Hospitality Admission
Chemistry runs through all three routes into this programme, joined by Biology or Agricultural Science at O Level and on the JAMB form. Those two are the real core of the requirement.
The waivers decide everything else. They allow Economics, Accounting or Commerce in place of Food and Nutrition or Home Economics, which opens the course to commercial students. Check your subjects against both lists, then confirm your JAMB score reaches 140 for the 2026/2027 session.
