This page sets out the O Level credit requirement three separate times, and the three versions are not worded identically. Read all of them before registering, along with the UTME combination, the Direct Entry condition and the score UNIJOS asks for.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Actuarial Science are as follows:
English Language, Mathematics, Economics, plus any other two (2) relevant subjects.
The first of the three statements names English Language, Mathematics and Economics as compulsory, leaving two places open.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
UNIJOS requires Mathematics and any other two (2) subjects from Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Business Methods, Statistics, Government, or Economics.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Economics and another subject
The UTME form follows the same shape. English Language, Mathematics and Economics take three of the four slots and the fourth is open to any subject.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks on O Level Credits
UNIJOS requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any three (3) subjects from Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Business Methods, Statistics, Government or Economics.
This is the fullest of the three statements, since English Language, Mathematics and three further subjects account for all five credits. It differs from the opening line in treating Economics as one option among six rather than compulsory, so satisfy the stricter reading and hold Economics too.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Actuarial Science if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include English Language and Mathematics.
Direct Entry names both passes, and English Language at A Level is an unusual condition worth checking before you rely on this route.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIJOS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 180 or above in your JAMB result.
The Credit Requirement Is Stated Three Times
Mathematics is the one subject every version of this page agrees on. It is compulsory in all three O Level statements, it is on the UTME combination, and it is one of the two named Direct Entry passes.
Economics is where the statements part company, compulsory in the opening line but merely one option in both waiver remarks. Holding it satisfies every version, so treat it as required, and score at least 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
