This article is designed to help students who wish to study Literature in English under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at the University of Jos.
Confirm that Literature in English is still listed at UNIJOS before you register for JAMB. The subject itself is compulsory at every stage, and the rest of the requirement is left fairly open.

What became the University of Jos was established in November 1971 from the elite campus of the University of Ibadan.
The first students were admitted in January 1972 as pre-degree students, and the first Bachelor of Arts degree program began in October 1973.
In October 1975, the military government under General Murtala Mohammed established the Unijos as a separate institution.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Literature in English;
You require; Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include Literature in English and English Language.
Only two of the five credits are named. Literature in English and English Language are compulsory, and the remaining three carry no stated restriction at all.
That makes the credit list unusually accessible, provided Literature in English sits on your result at credit level.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Literature in English under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at UNIJOS include;
Literature in English, one (1) other Arts subject, and another Arts or Social Science subject.
The JAMB form is slightly tighter. Literature in English joins the compulsory English Language, one further paper must be an Arts subject, and the last may be Arts or Social Science.
So the UTME combination restricts your choices more than the O Level list does, which is the reverse of what most candidates expect.
