UNN Department of Education and English Language Admission Requirement 2024/2025


The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) is a federal government-owned university in Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria. Established in 1955, UNN is one of Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious universities.

The Department of Education and English Language at UNN offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in education and the arts, including programs in art education, music education, and theatre and film studies.

In this article, we will provide an overview of the admission requirements for the Department of Education and English Language Arts at UNN, including information on the required documents, minimum grades, and other important details.

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and English Language;

You require; Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Literature in English plus three other Arts or Social Science subjects.

UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and English Language under the Faculty of Education in the above Universities include;

Literature in English and one Art and any other subjects.

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and English Language if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

1. Two ‘A’ level passes in relevant teaching subjects, including Literature in English.

2. NCE with credit or merit passes in two relevant subjects.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into the UNN Department of Education and English Language Admission for the 2024/2025 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of  200 or above in your JAMB result.
