This is to notify the general public and all aspiring University of Nigeria (UNN) students that the Department of French with German/Russian admission requirements has been published.
The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study French with German/Russian include the following:
Five (5) SSCE credit passes, including French and English Language, plus one (1) other Arts subject.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language.
- French and any other two (2) subjects from Arts and Social Sciences
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study French with German/Russian if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes, including French and one (1) other Arts subject.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
UNN accepts
- NCE merit in two (2) relevant subjects and the UTME requirements.
- Two (2) passes at GCE ‘A’ level/HSC or its equivalent, DALF certificate, or an acceptable Baccalaureate Certificate in relevant subjects.
The DALF certificate is worth noting, since it gives candidates with a recognised French language qualification an alternative to the usual A level route.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNN for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum of 160 or above score in your JAMB result.
Alternative Certificates for UNN French with German or Russian
French is the anchor subject even though the degree pairs it with German or Russian. At O level you need five SSCE credit passes covering French, English Language and one other Arts subject.
Beyond the standard two A level passes, UNN accepts an NCE merit in two relevant subjects with the UTME requirements, or two GCE A level or HSC passes, a DALF certificate or an acceptable Baccalaureate Certificate. The minimum JAMB score is 160.
