The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Geography include the following:
Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Geography, and any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.
Mathematics appears only as a pass rather than a credit, but it cannot be dropped. Geography and English Language are the two credits you must secure.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language.
- Geography and two (2) other Arts or Social Science subjects
The UTME combination keeps Geography compulsory and adds two Arts or Social Science subjects of your choosing alongside English Language.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Geography if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two ‘A’ level passes in Geography and any one of Economics., Government, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
Direct Entry widens the second subject well beyond the Arts, since Economics, Government, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics are all accepted alongside Geography.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNN for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum of 160 or above score in your JAMB result.
Sciences Count at Direct Entry for UNN Geography
Geography is compulsory throughout, but the subjects around it change at each stage. At O level you need five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Geography and three Arts or Social Science subjects, with at least a pass in Mathematics.
UTME keeps to the Arts and Social Sciences for your other two subjects, while Direct Entry opens up to the sciences, accepting Economics, Government, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics with Geography. The minimum JAMB score is 160.
