The University of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka, has published the admission requirements for its Department of Microbiology, covering the O’Level subject combination, the JAMB UTME papers, the university cut-off and the departmental cut-off mark.

Microbiology sets a higher bar than most UNN departments. The university cut-off is 200, but this department requires 250 in the school UTME screening exercise, a gap of fifty points.
That makes it one of the more demanding science courses at Nsukka. The subject requirements themselves are conventional, so the screening mark is where applications are decided.

UNN Microbiology Asks for 250, Not 200
The O’Level requirement names all five credits. English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics, with no optional slot and no substitutions offered.
The JAMB combination is slightly looser. Use of English, Biology and Chemistry are fixed, and the fourth paper is either Physics or Mathematics, both of which you already need at O’Level.
That overlap works in your favour. Every JAMB subject for this course is also an O’Level requirement, so there is nothing extra to prepare for the UTME beyond what the credits already demand.
The scores are where the work lies. Reach 200 in JAMB to be considered by UNN at all, then 250 in the departmental screening to be considered for Microbiology.
Set your target at 250 from the start. A candidate planning around the university minimum will clear UNN but miss this department entirely.
