This is to inform the general public and all Adeyemi College Of Education, Ondo (ACEONDO) aspirants that the admission requirements for the Department of Igbo/Social Studies have been published.

The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
Igbo is the fixed subject on both lists, and it is paired in each case with Government or History. The two are treated as alternatives, so only one is needed.
The final place on each list is wider still, accepting any Arts or Social Science subject rather than naming particular options.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Igbo/Social Studies include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Igbo
- Government/History and any one Arts/Social Science subject.
English Language, Mathematics and Igbo are compulsory, Government or History makes a fourth, and one Arts or Social Science subject completes the five.
The Government and History alternative is useful, since a candidate who studied only one of the two is not disadvantaged here.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- Igbo
- History/Government and any one Arts/Social Science subject
Mathematics does not carry over into JAMB, where Igbo is joined by History or Government and one Arts or Social Science paper.

Igbo With Government or History at ACEONDO
The Igbo credit is the one hard condition in this requirement, and it is the result most candidates schooled in the south west will need to check first.
Everything after it is flexible. Government or History satisfies the second named place, and the last place takes any Arts or Social Science subject.
The JAMB combination on this page lists Igbo, History or Government and one option but does not include English Language, which JAMB requires of every candidate. Confirm the correct four papers with the current JAMB brochure or with the department.
