Yoruba is the one specialist subject named on both lists. English Language joins it at each stage, with Mathematics also required among the Ordinary Level credits.

The remaining places are open to any Arts subject, two at Ordinary Level and two in JAMB, which leaves candidates a good deal of choice.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Music/Yoruba Studies include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:

  • English Language,
  • Mathematics,
  • Yoruba and Two Arts subjects

Three subjects are named and the last two may be any Arts subjects, so most candidates with a humanities background will be able to assemble the five.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB

  • English Language
  • Yoruba and Any two other Arts subjects

That gives English Language, Yoruba and two Arts papers. Mathematics does not carry over from the Ordinary Level list into the JAMB registration.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted to the  Adeyemi College Of Education for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 120 or above in your JAMB result.

The score decides eligibility for the screening exercise rather than admission. Candidates who clear it still face that stage.

About Adeyemi College of Education

Adeyemi College of Education, also known as Aceondo, is a Federal College in Ondo State, Nigeria’s southwest. The federal government of Nigeria manages the college.

The college, which is affiliated with the prestigious OAU in Ile-Ife, was founded in 1964 and named after a Nigerian educator.

The college aspires to be the reference point for teacher education in Nigeria, training students in academic and moral standards of international renown.

Yoruba Is the Only Named Subject at ACEONDO Music and Yoruba

Confirm the Yoruba credit first, since it is the single specialist subject this department names and no alternative is offered for it.

Beyond Yoruba, English Language and Mathematics, every other place on both lists is open to any Arts subject.

Neither subject list names Music, although it appears in the course title. Candidates should confirm with the ACEONDO admission office or the current JAMB brochure whether a Music credit or an audition is expected.
