Physics is taught under the Faculty of Science at Adamawa State University. Physics and Mathematics are paired together in the UTME combination and again at Direct Entry.
Agricultural Science is accepted at O’Level as an alternative to Biology, but it does not carry through to the JAMB registration.
Confirm that Physics appears on the current ADSU course list and that your JAMB registration records it correctly before you sit the examination.

Admission Requirements for Physics
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Physics is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language, Physics, Biology, or Agricultural Science.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Physics under the Faculty of Science at ADSU include;
Physics, Mathematics and one other subject from Chemistry or Biology.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Physics if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes, including Physics and one (1) another Science subject.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into ADSU for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Agricultural Science Stops at O Level for ADSU Physics
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language, Physics, and Biology or Agricultural Science. The closing pair is the only choice offered.
Chemistry is compulsory at that stage. At UTME it becomes an alternative to Biology, so a candidate still needs the credit but can choose which paper to sit.
The UTME combination keeps English Language compulsory, fixes Physics and Mathematics, and allows Chemistry or Biology in the final place. Agricultural Science is not accepted there.
Direct Entry asks for two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes including Physics and one other science subject, which is the most open of the three conditions.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at ADSU and applies whichever route a candidate uses.
