Accounting is taught under the Faculty of Social & Management Science at Federal University Gashua. Economics is required on all three routes into the department.
Accounting itself is never named as an entry subject. Mathematics and Economics carry the requirement instead, with social science papers filling the remaining places.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Accounting is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, Economics, English Language, and two other Social Sciences subjects.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Accounting under the Faculty of Social & Management Science at FUGASHUA include;
Mathematics, Economics and one other Social Science Subject.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Accounting if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Economics and one other Social science subject.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUGASHUA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Accounting Is Not an Entry Subject for FUGASHUA Accounting
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in Mathematics, Economics and English Language, plus two other social science subjects. Accounting does not appear among them.
The UTME combination keeps the same shape. English Language is compulsory, Mathematics and Economics are named, and one other social science subject completes the set.
Direct Entry drops Mathematics, asking for two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes in Economics and one other social science subject.
Economics is therefore the one constant across all three routes, while Mathematics is needed at the first two stages only.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at FUGASHUA and applies whichever route a candidate uses.
