Biology is taught under the Faculty of Sciences at Federal University Gashua. Biology is required on all three routes and never carries an alternative.
Chemistry is named only at the UTME stage. It is not required at O’Level or at Direct Entry, which is the one shift between the three sets of conditions.
Confirm that Biology appears on the current FUGASHUA course list and that your JAMB registration records it correctly before you sit the examination.

JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Biology under the Faculty of Sciences at FUGASHUA include;
Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Biology if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Biology and any other Science subject.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUGASHUA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Chemistry Appears Only at JAMB for FUGASHUA Biology
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in Mathematics, Biology and English Language, plus two other science subjects. Chemistry is not named at that stage.
The UTME combination then makes it compulsory. English Language is compulsory, Biology and Chemistry are fixed, and the fourth paper is either Physics or Mathematics.
A candidate could therefore satisfy the O’Level condition with Physics and Agricultural Science and still have to sit Chemistry at JAMB.
Direct Entry drops Chemistry again, asking only for two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes in Biology and any other science subject.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at FUGASHUA and applies whichever route a candidate uses.
