Public Administration is taught under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at Federal University, Gashua (FUGASHUA). Economics is required on all three routes into the department.
Mathematics is named at the first two stages and then disappears at Direct Entry, where Economics alone is specified. That is the one difference between the routes.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Public Administration are Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two other relevant subjects.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Public Administration at FUGASHUA include Mathematics, Economics, and any other Social Science subject.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Public Administration if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes which should include Economics.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUGASHUA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Economics Carries FUGASHUA Public Administration
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects. Relevance is left undefined for those two.
The UTME combination keeps English Language compulsory, names Mathematics and Economics, and asks for any other social science subject in the final place.
Direct Entry is the shortest condition on the page, requiring two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes which should include Economics. The second pass is unrestricted.
A candidate with an advanced level in Economics and any other subject therefore satisfies Direct Entry as written, even without Mathematics at that level.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at FUGASHUA and applies whichever route a candidate uses.
