Botany is taught under the Faculty of Sciences at Federal University, Lokoja (FULOKOJA). The O’Level stage names every credit, while the two later stages allow a choice of supporting science.
Botany and Zoology are recognised in their own right only at Direct Entry. Neither appears in the O’Level or UTME conditions, where Biology does the work instead.
Confirm that Botany appears on the current FULOKOJA course list and that your JAMB registration records it correctly before you sit the examination. A course entered in error cannot be assessed against these conditions.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Botany are Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Botany at FULOKOJA include Biology, Chemistry, and any other Science subject.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Botany if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry or Physics.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FULOKOJA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Botany Itself Counts Only at Direct Entry at FULOKOJA
The O’Level requirement names all five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Nothing is optional, so the full science set has to be in place.
Physics is compulsory there despite having little obvious bearing on a botany degree. A candidate without that credit has no stated alternative.
The UTME combination loosens considerably. English Language is compulsory, Biology and Chemistry are fixed, and the third paper may be any other science subject.
Direct Entry accepts two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes in Biology, Botany or Zoology together with Chemistry or Physics. It is the only section where the Botany paper itself is named.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at FULOKOJA and governs eligibility for screening rather than final admission.
